“As an initial display of what High Street South has to offer to our future residents and visitors, we decided to have a first-ever live outdoor impromptu performance of an exceptional performer who exudes a distinct kind of energy and vibe to underscore the vibrancy of the urban landscape that will soon be heightened in BGC,” Jennylle Tupaz, Project Development Group Head of Alveo Land.

To date, BGC—touted as the ‘Home of the Passionate Minds’, is an address of diverse retail and business shops, dining destinations, leisure options and residential developments. The district, which continues to flourish ever since its inception, in fact has already established itself as one of the country’s fastest emerging mixed-use urban hubs.

The first-ever impromptu street concert, spearheaded by Alveo Land, was a realization of the company’s vision of the emergence of High Street South as BGC's cultural district that exudes a lively, cosmopolitan vibe. At par with other first-world cities, such as Manhattan in New York, Clark Quay in Singapore , and Paris in France, High Street South is Alveo Land 's pioneering integrated township ideal, which is set to redefine the BGC landscape in the next 25 years.

“We’ve always envisioned High Street South to be an area that complements and enriches the various lifestyles inherent to BGC,” shares Tupaz. “In a few years’ time, High Street South will be known as a destination where all the conveniences of the modern world will harmoniously co-exist with different forms of art, wide roads and lush green areas.”

Alveo Land’s High Street South, poised to become the country’s fastest-rising integrated urban development in the metropolis, is an exclusive township designed by the CAZA Group—renowned architects from a New York-based design studio, headed by a highly regarded Filipino in the industry, Architect Carlos Arnaiz. As BGC’s cultural district, High Street South will house an exceptional array of international and local retail and business establishments, diverse dining destinations, and recreation and leisure options.

“GLEE THE 3D CONCERT MOVIE” IS FOR GENERAL PATRONAGE

THE GLEE 3D CONCERT MOVIE IS FOR 2-WEEKS ONLY STARTING SEPTEMBER 21

“Glee” successfully tuned in to worldwide acclaim tackling teenage problems via its ensemble of perfectly flawed characters.  Created by Ryan Murphy, “Glee” has struck such a strong chord with young people in particular because it deals in a realistic way with issues facing teenagers that are often ignored, such as outward appearance, sexual orientation and disability, but it does so in an authentic and entertaining way. The cast is diverse, the storylines are strong and the show is infused with humor and wit. Nevertheless, despite its high wattage of uplifting music and dance, most guardians find the show’s depiction of teenage problems inappropriate for the little ones.  Thus, addressing the show’s curbed viewership, “Glee” steps up on stage reaching to broader audience as young as three in “Glee the 3D Concert Movie.”
Recently classified for General Patronage GP by the (local) Movie and Television Review and Classification Board, “Glee The 3D Concert Movie” is summed up as “Wholesome concert on people who feel comfortable about themselves with poignant life stories and issues that allow and encourage people to be more tolerant of one another; issues like dwarfism, having asperger’s syndrome, being gay, wearing glasses, being physically disable and the like.  An excellent concert movie that is suitable for children and adults, abled and disabled, straight and gay, big and small.”

Filmed during the recently concluded stadium-filled tours, Glee fans can expect to be bowled over by the big screen experience.  In character, tapping into the magical quality of the TV series, members of the Glee Club belt out ballads, show tunes and a rocking blend of sensational pop songs, all familiar from the show including covers of numbers that include Paul McCartney’s  ‘Silly Love Songs’ Katy Perry’s ‘Teenage Dream’ and Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin’, which was Glee’s first hit.
Setting it apart from other 3D concert movies that have been released, director Kevin Tancharoen who has closely collaborated with James Cameron into filming Glee in 3D notes that the at the core of the film’s music and moves are the documentaries of the fans that perfectly tied in with Glee’s endearing resonance with the underdogs.  Ordinarily, many of the GLEE club members would be considered geeky, but the show depicts them as genuine and authentic teens.  What they have in common is charisma, warmth and above all, talent.
Exclusively released in 3D digital screens by 20th Century Fox thru Warner Bros, “Glee The 3D Concert  Movie” will open nationwide on September 21 for two weeks only – Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Bohol, Cagayan De Oro, Bacolod, GenSan, Tagbilaran, Pampanga, Angeles and Baguio.

Winner of race around metro bags P100k in cash and prizes
Following the footsteps

Newly crowned Philips Urban Adventure winners Allen Catindig and Allan Lopez are joined by Amazing Race Asia winner Richard Herrera at the awarding ceremony of Philips’ first-ever adventure race. The Philips Urban Adventure was organized as part of celebrations marking 55 years of Philips in the country, and saw 15 teams competing through an array of physical and mental challenges in key locations around Metro Manila
Manila, Philippines - The Philips Urban Adventure saw an exciting finish recently, as the team of Allen Catindig and Allan Lopez bested 14 other duos in a one-day race around Metro Manila to bag first place honors along with P100,000 in cash and prizes.

The race was organized as part of celebrations marking 55 years of Philips in the country, and saw the competing teams racing through 12 landmark destinations in the metropolis to perform a variety of physical and mental tasks. These destinations have played a significant role in Philips’ history in the Philippines.

“This is the first time that we’ve organized an event like this, and all of us at Philips are very pleased with the turn out,” remarked Philips CEO Rico Gonzales at the awarding ceremony in R.O.X.

A mad dash to the finish

The race was packed with challenges, and ran from early morning to early evening, taking the teams all around the metro. From the starting line, teams had to do a 10-story vertical run up to Philips’ new home in the Sun Life Centre building. They then proceeded to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) office to make a fundraising pitch, and then off to the Ayala Museum to solve a special mystery.

Next stop was in Honda Cars Manila, where teams had to take a photo of the new Civic MUGEN, and then to GK Baseco where teams equipped beneficiary families with Philips LED lighting. From there, teams raced to the office of Philips’ communications partner, M2.0, to solve a special quiz on wellness, and rushed to the Power Mac Center in Trinoma for a music test.

The next destination was the National Kidney Transplant Institute (NKTI) where teams had to match cutting-edge Philips medical imaging and diagnostic equipment with their respective labs. They then dashed to the People Power Monument to solve a jigsaw puzzle, then off to the Medical City’s sleep lab to assemble Philips sleep-aid equipment.

The next leg was at Dr. Smile at the Podium, where teams had to demonstrate their brushing skills to resident dentists using the Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush. Finally, teams had to pitch an outdoor tent from The North Face at R.O.X., the leading hub for outdoors equipment. From there, it was a mad dash to the finish line.

A thrill for Philips and the winners

“It was a very exciting race, and we had a very fun time trying to keep up with the teams as they raced through the various legs and performed the challenges. This was such a great way to celebrate our 55th anniversary, and I hope that all the participants had a memorable time,” Mr. Gonzales said.

The team of Allen Catindig and Allan Lopez was visibly overjoyed at the awarding ceremony, having won the race in exciting fashion just minutes earlier. “We’re stunned and tremendously happy right now,” exclaimed Allen.

“We never imagined that a race like this could be so tiring, challenging, fun and rewarding all at the same time. It was such a thrill just to be one of the finalists, so to actually win the whole thing is amazing!”

Long climb to the top

The winning team’s race to the top was hardly easy, as aside from edging out 14 other teams during race day, the tandem had to go through a rigorous screening and public voting process to enter the finals.

Interested participants were asked to send in creative photos of themselves along with a write up. Judges then had to go through dozens of entries, after which 24 short-listed teams were tasked to gather as many public votes as they can, with the top 12 moving on to the race.

After a special twist, 3 more teams were added, yielding 15 diverse, competitive teams who raced neck and neck throughout the competition.

The Philips Urban Adventure was organized by Philips, the leading name in lighting, consumer electronics and healthcare, in partnership with Honda Cars Philippines, Sun Life Centre, Sun Life Financial, The Medical City, the National Kidney Transplant Institute, Power Mac Center, Dr. Smile, the Ayala Museum, WWF, R.O.X., the Spirit of EDSA Foundation, M2.0 Communications, and Gawad Kalinga
